Variable stars have been studied and surveyed for a large part of the sky due to their importance in understanding stellar properties as well as their importance in estimating distances. However, the crowded Galactic Plane has been generally avoided by most surveys in the past. ZTF however has studied the Galactic plane extensively in g, r and i bands. While these wavelengths are suitable for studying a large category of variable stars, we miss out on the blue end of the spectrum like blue large amplitude pulsators, blue stragglers etc. We try to overcome this problem with the help of CFHT u band. Here I present the preliminary results obtained by using the newly obtained data to estimate metallicities of various stars in the extinction affected area and further discuss novel techniques to help with the cross match. Furthermore, machine learning methods for characterizing this newly obtained variable star data is also peered upon.
