The utilization of all-dielectric metasurfaces for highly-efficient focusing metalenses has been widely investigated and demonstrated in versatile applications at optical frequencies. In this work, we report an active all-dielectric metalens that is capable of engineering the depth of focus (DOF) with tunable focal length property. The focal length can be continuously altered by rotating the linear polarization angle of the incident light, which can be feasibly realized via incorporation of a twisted nematic liquid crystal film. The proposed tunable metalens with DOF-engineered capability could be a promising candidate for developing low-profile optical imaging components and systems.
